Exterior Painting

A lasting exterior finish starts long before the first coat of paint. We begin with a thorough surface preparation process to ensure proper adhesion and long-term durability. This includes pressure washing to remove dirt and mildew, scraping loose or peeling paint, sanding rough areas, repairing damaged wood, and sealing gaps with high-quality caulk. All surrounding areas are carefully protected with drop cloths and masking before primer is applied to create a smooth, stable base for the finish coats. The result?A clean, uniform finish built to withstand Maine’s weather and look exceptional for years to come.

The EPA Lead-Safe Certification, part of the Lead, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program, requires contractors working on pre-1978 buildings to get certified and use lead-safe practices to prevent lead dust exposure, protecting children and families from lead poisoning. This involves training in an EPA-accredited course, firm certification, and following specific work procedures, with certifications lasting five years.

  • Firms and individuals performing renovation, repair, or painting (RRP) in target housing or child-occupied facilities built before 1978.

  • This includes contractors, property managers, and even homeowners who rent or operate childcare in their homes.

Why Is It Important?

Prevents Poisoning: Disturbing lead paint in older homes creates dangerous lead dust, a major source of childhood lead poisoning.Legal Requirement: It's federal law, with significant fines for non-compliance.Protects Occupants: Ensures safer environments for children and other residents in older buildings.
